Hair loss in Dubai

Hair loss is an increasingly common problem for those living in extreme climates such as the Gulf’s intense heat. An article in Gulf News says – It was revealed that 67 per cent of respondents claimed to be affected by hair loss and 56 per cent of the men in the survey suffering from hair loss were negatively impacted by it. It also showed that hair loss is between the top two concerns for men in terms of their physical image. However, experts said hair loss among both men and women in the UAE are due to a combination of influences, including hereditary predisposition, stress and environment. Hair loss caused as a result of desalinated water in the UAE was not ruled out.

One of the most obvious reasons behind the thinning hairs seems to be desalinated water. The tap water in the UAE is hard and contains a high amount of chlorine, which can cause hair to become weak and shed. Secondly, the weather is a highly annoying factor – hot and sweaty conditions mean we need to wash our hair almost every day, and shampooing too often can strip the scalp of its natural oils and cause dehydration.

Lastly, the constant exposure in the blistering heat of the Sun, air conditioning and the chlorine full tap water and swimming pools play a massive role in damaging your hair’s health.
